On-Site Wedding Rehearsals: What You Need to Know
Ultimately, most couples don’t need an on-site rehearsal with the Bridgewater String Quartet. Having performed at hundreds, if not thousands of weddings (we’ve lost count!), we adapt quickly to venue cues and time the processional music perfectly. Instead, we’ll discuss your ceremony preferences via phone or email weeks before your big day. Then, on the wedding morning, a quartet member touches base with your registrar or officiant to confirm cues and ensure a flawless performance.
Because of our extensive experience, we read subtle signals—such as the start of the aisle walk—and respond in real time. Moreover, pre-event consultations cover every detail:
- Song choices and exact timings
- Any special pauses or extra cues
- Contact information for venue staff
Consequently, you save time and avoid scheduling conflicts.
If you prefer in-person advice, you can book a two-hour rehearsal consultation. For £120 plus travel, one of our representatives will visit your venue to advise on logistics (not to perform). Please note:
- This service requires four weeks’ notice.
- Availability depends on our team schedule.
Most ceremonies fit neatly into a 60–90 minute slot. Therefore, we recommend booking us for one to one-and-a-half hours, which typically includes:
- Pre-ceremony seating music
- Processional entrance
- Signing music
- Recessional exit
Additional Time Charges
Should you need us to stay longer, we charge £50 per half hour.
We work hard to be punctual and prepared. Moreover, we carry £5 million public liability insurance for your peace of mind. However, if unforeseen events force us to cancel or arrive late, we limit our liability to a refund of our performance fee. Additionally, we gladly collaborate with guest soloists. If they require a rehearsal, an extra consultation fee may apply.
