A Star‑Studded Celebration
A Star‑Studded Zoe’s Place Celebration Concert
On Thursday, July 17 2025 I had the immense privilege of performing as part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the Zoe’s Place Celebration Concert. It was very exciting and I doubt I’ll ever be so lucky again.
Pre‑Show Entertainment and Community Spirit
Before the main event, LIPA dancers mesmerised us with “Backstage Romance.” Cody Urban Dance then lifted everyone’s spirits with “Joyful Joyful.” Billie Clements warmed up the crowd as DJ. Her energy set the perfect tone for the evening.
Diverse Line‑Up Showcasing Merseyside Talent
Adam Rowe, our compère, entertained us between acts. The Cheap Thrills rocked “Come Together” (The Beatles). Next, Rianne Downey’s take on “Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)” (The Beautiful South) was heartfelt and memorable.
The Real Thing delivered “You To Me Are Everything” with soul‑stirring vocals. Ian Prowse followed with “Does This Train Stop on Merseyside,” transporting us back home.
Indie Classics and Fan‑Favourites
Red Rum Club gave “With a Little Help from My Friends” (The Beatles) a fresh twist. Lightning Seeds reminded us why “Pure,” “Life of Riley” and “Lucky You” remain indie anthems.
A Special Moment with The Farm’s “All Together Now”
Midway through, The Farm performed my all‑time favourite, “All Together Now.” Peter Hooton’s vocals were extraordinary. When the audience sang along, I felt a wave of pure joy. It remains the highlight of my night.
Closing Acts and Audience Sing‑Along
Circa Waves then played “There She Goes.” The Zutons followed with “The Big Decider” and “Valerie.” Rebecca Ferguson moved us with “Hallelujah.” Sense of Sound Singers uplifted everyone with “You’ve Got the Love” and “Free.” Rebecca returned to join them for “You’ve Got to Show Me Love.”
Jamie Webster closed the show with three anthems: “All You Need is Love,” “This Place” and “Hey Jude.” Every artist joined him for an unforgettable finale sing‑along.
Comedy, Poetry and Interval Vibes
Joseph Roberts’ playful poetry showcased local slang. Jonny Bongo’s DJ set kept energy high during the interval. Paul Smith’s comedy opened the second half. James Nelson Joyce made a surprise appearance at the outset.
Behind the Scenes: Crew and Courtesy
The crew worked like clockwork to turn around each set. Their efficiency meant no time was wasted. Phones were offstage as a courtesy, so I couldn’t film any footage. Yet every moment is etched in my memory.
Unveiling “Little Lights” and Celebrating £7.5 Million Raised
One of the most poignant moments was revealing Zoe’s Place’s new name: Little Lights. I’m not sure why they chose it, but it felt symbolic. We also celebrated the community’s success in raising £7.5 million to secure the hospice’s future.
Thanks to Home Bargains’ £2.5 million pledge and generous donations, the funds will build a state‑of‑the‑art facility and support daily care. For more details visit Zoe’s Place.
Gratitude and Reflection
From Billie Clements’ opening beats to Jamie Webster’s finale sing‑along, every performance highlighted Merseyside talent. I am proud to have played a part in this unforgettable Zoe’s Place Celebration Concert. What a night—and what a community!
