About The Bridgewater String Quartet

The Bridgewater String Quartet is a professional Wedding String Quartet performing regularly for Weddings and Events across the North West of England including Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales.

With 100’s of outstanding performances The Bridgewater Quartet have built a solid reputation both musically, and visually.

As well as a String Quartet, the Bridgewater String Quartet also offer a Trio and have one of the largest Wedding String Quartet and Trio Repertoires in the UK.

With hundreds of weddings and a wealth of experience, Bridgewater String Quaret are widely recognised and very much sought after

Venues

As well as private functions, we have collectively performed at many prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Philharmonic Hall, London Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Royal Festival Hall.

Orchestras

We perform regularly with some of the country’s top professional orchestras such as BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, CBSO, Northern Ballet, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Sinfonia Cymru, Manchester Camerata, Opera North and Northern Chamber Orchestra.

We have enjoyed performances with Elbow, Clean Bandit, The 1975, Will Young, Pet Shop Boys, Andrea Bocelli, Dame Kiri Ti Kanawa, Leslie Garrett, Russell Watson, Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins, Gorrilaz, Katie Melua, Nicola Benedetti, Aled Jones and Julian Lloyd Webber.

Live

Live radio and television performances include BBC Radio 3, BBC 1 Children in Need, BBC Radio Wales, BBC 4 (The BBC Proms), Songs of Praise, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Red Nose Day.

FAQs

A String Quartet comprises of four musicians: two violins, one viola and one cello. The String Trio has only three players by missing out one violin making it a perfect alternative choice for smaller venues and budgets!

If your favourite song is not already on our repertoire list, then we are able to arrange it for you at a small cost. Please note that we require at least one month’s notice for this service.

The String Quartet will require four armless chairs (or three chairs for the String Trio) set out where you wish them to play. They require a performance space of approximately 3m x 2m, and soft drinks are appreciated

The Quartet and Trio dress traditionally in all black but we can wear colours if you prefer.

The String Quartet and Trio are happy to play outdoors, usually during the drinks reception. However, they will not be able to play outdoors if there is any sign of rain, if it is too cold or windy, and will require a shaded area if there is bright sunshine. The reason for this is because of the damage it could cause to the valuable instruments.

The Bridgewater String Quartet and Trio members each have a regular deputy and also work with a small pool of talented and professional musicians. All graduated from top music conservatoires across the UK. This guarantees that you will receive a top-class performance on your big day.

Pricing usually corresponds to the level of professionalism and experience.  The Bridgewater String Quartet offers competitive pricing and its members have been playing together for over 10 years. Underlying this performing experience is many years of national and international concert performances as individual musicians. The result of this level of professionalism of the Bridgewater String Quartet will be more than evident at your function. We are confident and capable in any setting from church services to garden parties.

Music

Instead of sheet music, we use Samsung Galaxy tablets. There are many advantages to them: they are neat and tidy, you and your guests can choose music with ease, there is minimal delay between pieces, they enable us to quickly relocate if needed, we don’t need lighting and most importantly we can easily add new music to our ever increasing repertoire.

Our repertoire contains over 3000 pieces from Bach to the Killers, and everything in between, making it one of the largest collections in Britain.

The Bridgewater String Quartet and Trio has something for everyone, and if your favourite song isn’t on our list, we can have it arranged for you.
