From Setback to Opportunity
Social-Media Pivot Challenge
Three days ago Meta reinstated our original Bridgewater String Quartet page—after I’d appealed countless times over three months and built a brand-new profile from scratch in the meantime. Consequently, I felt instant relief yet frustration over the hours invested in that second page.
Pivot Insight from Marketing Expert
Then Steve, whose marketing expertise I trust implicitly, asked one simple question:
“Why not turn the new page into your trio page?”
Initially I hesitated; however, the idea clicked quickly once I considered it.
Executing Our Digital Pivot
Firstly, we recognised that no effort needed to go to waste. We’d already designed the cover image, finalised the logo treatments and polished the About section. Moreover, instead of discarding that work, we simply repurposed it.
Secondly, distinct branding was crucial. The Bridgewater String Quartet and the Bridgewater Trio offer different repertoires and experiences. Therefore, dedicated pages help our audiences find exactly what they’re looking for, without confusion.
Thirdly, we leveraged instant momentum. The trio page launched with ready-made content and an initial audience, building on the engagement and followers we’d already attracted. Additionally, we pinned a friendly announcement explaining the pivot and linked to our Facebook hub for easy reference: Bridgewater String Trio Facebook Page.
Key Takeaways
- Collaboration drives innovation. Working with Steve’s marketing insight reminded me how powerful diverse perspectives can be.
- Swift action preserves momentum. Once we had the right idea, we moved quickly to apply it, preserving both momentum and morale.
- Resourcefulness amplifies impact. In a fast-moving digital world, repurposing existing assets can save time and boost engagement.
Conclusion
Now we have two robust hubs on Facebook: one celebrating the full Bridgewater String Quartet and one dedicated to the more intimate Bridgewater Trio. What began as a social-media headache has become an opportunity to strengthen our online presence and engage audiences more effectively.
Additionally, if you face a similar challenge, consider whether an existing asset could be repurposed into something new. Have you ever turned a setback into an unexpected advantage? I’d love to hear your story—after all, sometimes the best opportunities arise from the challenges we overcome.
