Hannah and Connor’s Wedding

Hannah and Connor’s Wedding

Arrival and a Thoughtful Gift

Hannah and Connor’s wedding at Hawkstone Hall was a joy from start to finish. We perform there regularly, but its charm never wanes: the grandeur, the light, the sense of occasion. Before we’d even played a note, one of the lovely staff members handed us a gift bag from the couple. Inside was a handwritten thank you card and four exquisite shortbread biscuits stamped with their initials and wedding date. It was a thoughtful gesture, and the card’s message was genuinely touching:

“Thank you so much for being part of our wedding day. We have been so impressed when listening to your videos online and can’t wait to hear you perform live today. We’re sure our guests will love it!

In between all the wedding madness, we hope you can enjoy a treat on us!”

With love,
Hannah & Connor

Pre-Ceremony and Chapel Moments

Connor came to introduce himself shortly afterwards – warm, friendly, and just as gracious in person as he’d been in his emails. We began by entertaining guests during the increasingly popular pre-pre-ceremony in the Winter Garden, before moving into the chapel ahead of the wedding party.

The ceremony itself was beautifully paced. With around 100 guests, there was a gentle buzz of anticipation. Connor kindly let us know that Hannah was running a few minutes late, so we selected additional pieces in keeping with their chosen repertoire. It’s something we’re always happy to do – live music allows for that kind of flexibility, and we enjoy curating the moment.

Hannah made her entrance to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. They’d asked us to repeat the verse so she could arrive just as the chorus began. We were delighted to accommodate this and had checked which version they were familiar with to ensure our arrangement matched the timing perfectly. Hannah looked absolutely stunning, and her veil – hand-sewn with pearls – was truly exquisite.

There was a memorial table in honour of Hannah’s late father, and a red admiral butterfly fluttered through the chapel during the ceremony. These butterflies are often seen as symbols of transformation and spiritual connection. Some believe they represent the presence of a loved one. It was a poignant moment.

Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast

The drinks reception took place at the rear of the building, where a welcome breeze softened the heat of the day. We performed a mix of pop and musical theatre, including Coldplay, Oasis, and The Greatest Showman. Though we kept our instruments shaded, we were certainly warm – and grateful for the thoughtful refreshments. Hannah and Connor had organised sandwiches and chips for us during our short break, and the chips were especially delicious!

We then moved into the wedding breakfast room, which was spectacular. Hannah and Connor had requested that we set up beside the top table, which was reserved just for them. As they were announced into the room, we performed The Best Day of Our Lives, as requested. I apologised for having my back to them, but they were so kind and said how much they’d enjoyed our music.

Later, Champagne Supernova received unexpected and rapturous applause. We’re still not sure why, but it was lovely to be so appreciated. Many guests and family members came over to thank us, and it was clear that music had played a meaningful part in their day.

Venue and Final Reflections

The staff at Hawkstone Hall were brilliant throughout – helpful, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. We can’t recommend it highly enough as a venue. It’s always a pleasure to return, and this wedding was no exception.

It was a long performance – six hours in total – but the atmosphere, the kindness, and the setting made it a pleasure. We left feeling grateful, warm, and quietly proud to have contributed to such a special celebration.
