Keeping Our Performance Fresh

Keeping Our Performance Fresh

When you book a string quartet, you’re not just hiring musicians—you’re inviting a team of professionals committed to delivering an exquisite, seamless performance from first note to last. In light of engagements lasting four hours or more, we kindly ask hosts to provide refreshments. Keep reading to discover how simple snacks and drinks help maintain our energy and ensure top performance.

Why Refreshments Matter

Even the most skilled players can feel fatigue over extended performances. Consequently, brief refreshments help maintain our focus and musical precision.

Sustained Energy

Lean proteins and complex carbs—like chicken sandwiches or wraps—keep blood sugar steady and concentration sharp.

Hydration & Warmth

Tea, coffee or water prevents throat dryness and supports healthy breathing, which is essential for clear, resonant bow work.

What to Provide: Simple Snacks and Drinks

For engagements of four hours or more, we kindly ask hosts to provide light refreshments: a sandwich or something similar, plus tea and coffee.

Scheduling Your Refreshment Break

Please allow 20 minutes for a food and drink break and we always make sure this is at the least disruptive time so as not to disturb the flow of the day. Our musicians will coordinate with venue staff, so there’s no need for you to worry about the exact setup or placement.

Departure and Post-Booking Commitments

While our musicians always appreciate your hosts’ generosity, we have various post‑booking commitments—such as childcare arrangements and travel schedules. Therefore, we regret that we cannot stay beyond the agreed engagement time.
