Alison was invited to perform with the RLPO string quartet along for a very special occasion at Alder Hey Hospital on Thursday!  It was a surprise leaving party for their CEO, Louise Shepherd, after 16 years of devoted service.  We performed some of her favourite pieces: Vivaldi’s Spring and Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba along with some Beatles numbers.  After this, we had the pleasure of performing Beauty & the Beast, The Bare Necessties and What a Wonderful World alongside the staff orchestra.  The main event, however, was a song called “Alder Hey’s Guiding Star,” which had been especially composed for Louise, where we were all joined by a children’s choir,   It was a very moving experience for us all and it brought Louise to tears, in a good way!
