Summer Wedding at Capesthorne Hall

We recently played at Sophie & Dimitri’s Summer Wedding at Capesthorne Hall, and it felt like a true fairytale. Set in 100 acres of Cheshire countryside, this stately home offers three lakes, formal gardens, and stunning original Canaletto paintings.

Pre-Ceremony Music

Guests arrived to a lively mix of pop hits and Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty Waltz.” Consequently, the mood felt upbeat and romantic. Then, Sophie and her bridesmaids entered to Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams,” which set the perfect opening note.

Signing Songs

During the register signing, we played three modern love songs:

• “Love Story” by Taylor Swift—guests even sang along afterward!

• “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri

• “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles

These choices added contemporary charm to the ceremony.

Exit to “We Found Love”

After the vows, Sophie & Dimitri walked out to Rihanna’s “We Found Love.” The energetic beat prompted cheers and applause. Moreover, it captured the couple’s joyful spirit perfectly.

Outdoor Reception and Weather

Because the ceremony room grew warm, everyone appreciated the breeze during the drinks reception. Sophie & Dimitri had chosen an ’80s and modern hits playlist. As a result, guests danced on the lawn without a care—thankfully under clear skies despite the season’s usual unpredictability.

Personal Connections

I owe special thanks to Jessica Sharpe, the wedding coordinator. She organised every detail before and on the day. For example, she positioned our chairs and ensured smooth transitions between locations. In addition, Sophie’s mum and stepdad, Wendy & Martin, booked us after a recommendation from a BBC Philharmonic friend—someone I sat beside in the first violin section.
